It’s five in a row for Wealden District Council
People come first for Wealden District Council, whether in the community or in the workplace.
The Council, the major provider of public services in the district, has just been awarded Investors In People status for the fifth successive time. Wealden is one of only three local authorities that has held the award continuously since 1993.
It follows Audit Commission recognition for the Council for the value for money and good financial management Wealden provides Council Tax payers.
“We are very pleased that the high standards of learning and development and staff involvement, which we believe are crucial in providing a good service to the public, continue to be recognised by Investors In People, “ said Councillor Raymond Parsons, Cabinet Member for Corporate Services.
“In a thorough review, the assessors were impressed how the whole team, from senior managers to staff on the front line, continually set out to improve the way they worked. On behalf of the Council, I would like to congratulate them all.“
“As one employee told the Assessors: ‘I try to give value for money by doing my job as best I can, and that, I think, is typical of the Wealden attitude.”
Investors In People status is awarded to organisations who use learning, development and shared responsibility to successfully improve performance. In awarding IIP status for the fifth consecutive time, the Assessors said they were impressed with the professionalism and dedication shown by all levels of staff in serving the public of Wealden.
In a report in March, the Audit Commission - the independent watchdog on public spending - said the Council provides residents with good value, with effective financial management embedded across the whole Council.
