Satisfaction survey: don’t let the opportunity slip

Don’t waste the opportunity to make your views known about local authority services.
A randomly selected number of Wealden households have been sent a Satisfaction Survey form as part of a nationwide assessment of how well local councils are performing.

Wealden District Council doesn’t know which households have been selected - the survey is being carried out on behalf of a consortium of East Sussex districts by research company BMG. But their input will be important in helping improve the quality of public service for the benefit of everyone.

Researcher BMG says the response to the survey in Wealden so far has been “encouraging” but some households have yet to complete their questionnaire. They will be sent another one in the hope that a good response can be achieved.

“By completing the questionnaire, those residents asked to take part are making a valuable contribution to shaping our local services in the future,” said Council Leader Nigel Coltman. “The Satisfaction Survey is only carried out every three years, and the results are very important in helping all local councils get a clear picture of what matters to local people.”

The nationwide satisfaction survey is only open to residents in selected households aged 18 and over. But the views of all age groups are important to Wealden District Council, whether or not they are old enough to vote. So the Council is complementing the national survey with its own satisfaction survey for young people on the website www.w4y.co.uk, the site for young people in Wealden.

The young people’s web survey asks a range of questions about living in Wealden and the facilities on offer. It also asks for views about personal safety, anti-social behaviour and council services. As a special incentive to youngsters taking part in the survey, a prize draw for an iPod Nano is being held for those taking part aged 18 or under. The internet questionnaire has to be completed by November 30.
