 I've found a stray dog, who do I tell?

You could be liable for a fine if you find a stray dog and keep it without the written permission of the local authority or the police.

 

My dog's gone missing, what do I do?

If your dog goes missing also contact local rescues and the RSPCA.

If not found within 48 hours, put up posters, check with the adjacent Councils, advertise in the Friday-Ad and there's a lost dog website.

 

"Prevention is better than cure"

The law requires that owners ensure that their dog wears a collar and tag in a public place. The tag should have inscribed on it the owner's surname, address and where possible a telephone number. You may consider having your dog microchipped but this is not a legal requirement.

REMEMBER - If you lose your dog it will cost you £67.00 plus kennelling charges to recover it from the Council's kennels

You could consider putting a collar and tag on your cat but this is not a requirement of the law.  Please make sure the collar fits properly.  You may also consider having your cat microchipped.
