Child Safety Equipment Loan Scheme
This scheme offers safety equipment to parents that would find purchase difficult. The scheme began in 1995 and since then over 8000 items of safety equipment have been distributed.

How to apply for equipment
If you have a child under 5 years of age, or a child with special needs, and would find purchase of such equipment difficult please contact your Health Visitor to apply for the scheme and attend an education session.
If you are eligible, your Health Visitor will work with you to decide on the correct equipment for your home and the needs of your children.
Recent Evaluation of the Scheme
A recent parents’ questionnaire showed that
- 93% of parents helped by the scheme felt their home was safer due to the equipment.
The Wealden Child Safety Equipment Scheme is a joint project co-ordinated by Wealden District Council. The main partners are East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust (NHS Trust), and Wealden children's centres.
