Severe weather warnings are issued by the Met Office when severe weather is expected to cause disruption to traffic etc. over a specified period of time. They are broadcast on both TV and radio, they are also published on the Met Office web site.

Flood warnings are issued by the Environment Agency.

Flood Information and Advise

You can find out if you are in an area at risk of flooding by visiting Environment Agency - Flood Map (external links).

The Environment Agency has produced three guides; 'Preparing for a Flood', During a Flood', and 'After a Flood'. The leaflet provide information on how to protect your property or business from flooding and what to do if you are affected. All are available from Environment Agency - Preparing for Flooding (external links), local Environment Agency events, or by telephone order to Floodline 0800 988 1188. The guides are currently available in English and bilingually in English and Welsh, and from November 2008 an audio versions will be available.
