Core Strategy
Progress with the Core Strategy
The consultation on “Issues and Options” took place in Summer 2007 and was the first stage of public participation in the preparation of the Core Strategy. The Core Strategy is the key component of the Local Development Framework as it will set out the Council’s long term spatial vision for the District and the strategic policies that will be required to deliver that vision.
The process of this consultation for the Local Development Framework (LDF) Issues and Options Paper complied with our adopted Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) and Regulation 25 of the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2004.
The consultation programme for the Issues and Options Consultation Paper was in excess of the statutory requirements because, as a Council, we are committed to ensuring that local residents have as much opportunity as possible to have their say on the preparation of the Local Development Framework.
We are currently working on the next stage of the Core Strategy, together with a large number of other background studies. As a result of recent changes to the development plan regulations, the Council is in the process of reviewing its Local Development Scheme, in consultation with the Government Office for the South East.
