Horseriding

Whether you would like to learn to ride or would like to go on a trek the Wealden countryside has much to offer.

Riding is permitted along the Forest Way and parts of the Cuckoo Trail which both follow dis-used railway lines.

The South Downs Way provides some of the best riding in the country. Ride the whole route from Eastbourne to Winchester, or devise circular rides based along sections of it.

The Ashdown Forest provides wonderful riding but riders must purchase a permit.

The parish of Rotherfield officially launched the Rotherfield Community Tourism Initiative (RCTI) in June 2004. This is a rural regeneration project. Over £500,000 has been spent on upgrading the rights of way in the Parish.

There are also a number of Toll rides within the district as well as countryside access routes where you can ride on private land.
