Wealden Community Leisure Review

Status: Closed

Wealden District Council is undertaking this consultation to find out your views on physical activity and leisure provision in the District.

We want to gain a better understanding of our residents’ current and future exercise patterns and needs, the impact that the Covid pandemic has had on this, and how this information can be used to inform and shape future leisure provision in the District. We want to ensure that high quality indoor and outdoor leisure provision is easily accessible to all residents in Wealden to allow everyone to be more active, more often.

The Councillors and Officers of Wealden District Council are deeply saddened and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time.”

Funeral Arrangements:

His Royal Highness will lie-at-rest in Windsor Castle ahead of the funeral service, but this will not be open to the public.
The Royal Ceremonial Funeral of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will be held on 17 April at 3pm in St. George’s Chapel.

The Funeral Service will begin with a National Minute’s Silence at 3pm

Flowers:

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, sadly, we are not able to have a designated area for flowers and tributes but we are suggesting that people can make donations if they so wish. We understand the financial pressures of the current situation so please do not feel obliged to donate. However, for those who wish to and are able to do so, The Duke of Cambridge has launched an urgent appeal asking those who can, to donate money to the National Emergencies Trust to help local charities, distribute money and support victims in combatting the impact of the pandemic.

Further information is available on the National Emergency Trust website.

For details of arrangements in your area, please visit your Town/Parish website. A list of the Town and Parish details can be found on our website.

Book of Condolence:

Regrettably, due to the pandemic there will be no public condolence book set up at the Wealden District Council offices but members of the public wishing to express their condolences are encouraged to send a message to the Royal Family via the online Book of Condolence  on the Royal website.

Church Services:

Our local churches are in the process of working through the practicalities of having the church buildings open so that the public may come in to pay respects in this way.  We will update this page as and when arrangements are made but you can also contact your local church for details.

Hailsham Parish Church is holding a special service of Commemoration on Sunday 18 April 2021 at 6pm.  It is important to note that places need to be booked online to ensure social distancing guidelines are adhered to.  The church building is open Monday 12, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 April from 11am – 12.30pm for anyone to come into the building to pay their respects.

Please visit the Royal website to find further details about what is happening at a national level
