Council Tax Reduction Scheme

Council Tax Benefit ended on 31 March 2013 and was replaced by Wealden District Council’s Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme (CTR).

Council Tax Reduction for pensioners and for working-age people is not a state benefit. It is a decided locally by the Council and the Council can change the scheme each year, but not during the year. The scheme for pensioners is prescribed in law and the Council cannot change the scheme for pensioners.

If the CTR applies to you, the amount you receive will be shown on your council tax bill that we send in mid-March.

It might be helpful to know you can now pay your Council Tax over 12 monthly instalments instead of 10. If you would like to do this, you must write to us or email us. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accept your request for this if you phone us – you must write or email. Please contact us using the contact details at the bottom of the page.

Introduction to the Council Tax Reduction Scheme
