Stock Figures
Stock figures given for Council and Housing Association are based on rented units only and are given as a close approximation as the stock figures alter on a regular basis due to newly built properties being completed and loss of properties due to the Right to Buy/Right to Acquire, as well as housing associations disposing of stock.
Waiting List
There is a high demand for affordable housing in Wealden. As at 8 April 2021 there were 656 households registered on the Council’s Housing Register.
Retirement Living/Sheltered Housing
Retirement Living/Sheltered housing – is housing for people aged 60+ years or those under 60 that are on Disability Living Allowance. Retirement Living/Sheltered housing is self-contained housing and includes access to communal facilities, including communal lounge.

The document then shows the number and property type of dwellings which have been let (both Council properties and Housing Associated properties) within the parish/town between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021.
Affordable and Social Rents
Properties owned by the Council or Housing Association may be let out at either affordable rents or social rents. Social rents are typically much lower at around 60% of the open market rental value and affordable rents up to 80% of the market value. Nearly all new homes will be let at affordable rents and also some older properties. The property advert will give you details on the rent levels of individual properties.
There is currently no affordable housing, either council or housing association in the parish of Alciston.
