Green Deal

The Green Deal is largely aimed at owner occupiers and private rented tenants. For those in private rented accommodation agreement is needed between the tenant and the landlord before a Green Deal can be considered. The Green Deal is a loan that is repaid through savings on your energy bill. The repayments should be no more than what a typical household should save in energy costs. The repayments should not exceed the cost of getting the work done in the first place.

Types of home improvements available from a Green Deal:

  • Solid or cavity wall insulation
  • Loft insulation
  • Draught proofing
  • Double glazing
  • Upgrades to your heating system
  • Renewable energy technologies

To get a Green Deal you first need an assessment. After the assessment an occupancy report and EPC are produced. A Green Deal provider will then discuss if a Green Deal plan is right for you. The Green Deal plan sets out the repayments and work to be carried out. When the plan has been agreed the Green Deal provider can arrange for work to be carried out. All works carried out are done by Green Deal approved tradesmen.

Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The Energy Company Obligation is a grant programme for energy efficiency funded by the big six energy suppliers. Grants are available to those who have an EPC rated D or lower and meet the relevant income criteria. To find out if you qualify and how to apply call us on 01323 443322.

Parity Trust

Parity Trust (External Link) works in partnership with local authorities. They are a socially responsible ethical lender. Financial assistance is available to help households install renewable energy technologies, solid wall insulation, voltage optimisation and water recycling technology. Loans range from £1000 to £25,000 at a typical fixed interest rate of 5.63% APR. To be eligible you must:

  • Be over 18
  • Be an owner or leaseholder with at least 5 years to the lease expires
  • Have a duty or power to carry out the work
  • Have a household income less than £60,000
