If you’re looking for real quality of life then take a close look at East Sussex. The East Sussex Building Control Shared Service, comprising of Wealden and Rother District Councils, and Eastbourne and Hastings Borough Councils, covers an area from the Ashdown Forest in the north, across to 1066 Country and the south coast, yet is within easy reach of London. When it comes to work we can offer a stimulating environment which is based on a sound customer care approach where we retain the vast majority of building projects, receiving close to 2500 building regulation applications a year.

We are now looking for someone with a working knowledge of the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended), with (or working towards) an appropriate qualification (RICS, CABE, CIOB) and some experience in building control to join our team.

You will be responsible for your own area within the partnerships boundaries and will need to communicate well with all our customers including building contractors, architects and developers, as you will carry out (after a suitable probationary period) site inspections, examination of plans etc to ensure that all development complies with the building regulations and reflects the approved plans submitted.

In return we offer an excellent package, including competitive salary, career average salary pension scheme, an employee benefit scheme offering a range of discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, flexitime, some homeworking and discounted leisure centre membership, in addition to supporting appropriate CPD courses.

Wealden District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are committed to maintaining a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment.  We value the differences that people bring from all backgrounds and communities and all applications will be treated on merit.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the majority of our staff are continuing to work from home at present. Therefore, if you have any queries regarding this vacancy, please contact us via email where possible at human.resources@wealden.gov.uk
