Wealden District Council is committed to playing an active role in developing a vibrant local economy and supporting the local community.  In response to the pandemic the Council is exploring alternative funding initiatives to help support the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) in addition to its support through its Service Level agreements funding with key partners of the organisation. This post will lead on the setting up of a Wealden Community Lottery for the district and be active in promoting this to local community groups so they can directly fundraise for local activity.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the launch of a new community funding initiative, supporting local community groups through the process. Through such work, the Council remains committed to strengthening its relationship with the VCSE and looks to develop this further as part of the Council’s recovery plans.

The post will also proactively lead on external funding bids for both internal and external stakeholders to attract more funding into the district.

You will also be required to contribute to the development of the agreed Economic Development and Wellbeing service plan covering the agendas of economic development, tourism, leisure, health, community and the voluntary sector.

This role is one in which we see great scope for progression, and over time would look to strategically develop the service in areas such as bidding, digital marketing and implementing effective risk management, monitoring and performance management measures for the service.

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline with previous experience in a similar role, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a good level of IT skills.

Wealden is a high performing council and the area is a very attractive environment in which to live and work. The Council is committed to sensitively managed growth to ensure we remain one of the top ten places in the country to prosper.

We offer an excellent package, including competitive salary, career average salary pension scheme, an employee benefit scheme offering a range of discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, flexitime and discounted leisure centre membership.

This is a permanent post and is open to job share.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the majority of our staff are continuing to work from home at present. Whilst there will be some requirement to attend the Hailsham office, this is currently very flexible and not on a regular basis.

Wealden District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
