Senior Web Development Officer

Salary: Rising to £31,998 p.a

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: 37 per week

Location: Council Offices, Hailsham (includes at least 2 days homeworking per week)


An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Web Development Team Leader in managing the Council’s Web team who design, develop and support our websites.

We are looking for someone with strong technical skills and an up-to-date knowledge and experience of web development technologies. You will understand the needs and expectations of internal and external customers and develop specific proposals on how web technologies can be best used to improve and develop services. This will include researching how customers want to complete interactions and access information so that our website reflects a demand led approach. Duties will include day to day supervision of the work of the Web Development team and the delivery of an effective and efficient ICT web support service for the Council including project management, application development, system administration, application upgrades, integration services, training and ad-hoc demand led requests for web operations.

In addition to having previous experience working in a multi-channel customer-focused environment and some previous experience of supervising a technical team, you will be a graduate or have an equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject and have a knowledge of project management techniques together with development experience using the latest web technologies including PHP, HTML, JavaScript, WordPress and CSS.

Occasional working out of normal office hours will be required, for which overtime is payable.
