An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to deliver housing related support to tenants within the Council’s Housing Services.
What will you be doing?
You will assist new vulnerable tenants by offering support relating to health, budgeting and dependency issues, signposting to appropriate services and agencies and helping them settle into their homes by liaising with utility companies and locating household goods, for example.
You will be expected to provide support to tenants in regards to other state benefits to which they may be entitled and refer them to the relevant department or organisation. You will assist with access to work, education or training opportunities, whilst also ensuring that they adhere to expectations of behaviour as a tenant of Wealden District Council.
What do you need?
You will need previous experience of managing a caseload within a housing or support team as you will be expected to carry out risk assessments and support plans, and liaise with clients in their homes. Experience of multi-agency working along with some knowledge of relevant housing legislation would be advantageous.
GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent are essential, as well as good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Organisational and time management capabilities will be required in relation to record keeping and report writing.
You should be able to display a sensitive and empathetic approach, good team working skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure to provide a high quality customer focused service.
This post provides an essential car allowance so applicants must have their own transport and a full current driving licence or be mobile and able to travel around the District.
