We will normally write to you about 6 weeks before the expiry of your vehicle licence offering you the opportunity to renew it.
Renew a Vehicle Licence Online
The easiest way to renew your vehicle licence is to visit our Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle Payments system and complete an online renewal.
Our online renewal allows you to make your payment and upload electronic copies of your supporting documents. As long as your documents are legible we are happy to accept scanned copies or photographs taken on a smartphone.
Renew a Vehicle Licence by post
If you do not want to use our online vehicle renewal then you will need to
- Download and complete our Vehicle Licence Application and Renewal Form
- Provide copies of your supporting documents (Insurance Certificate, and VCT)
- Make a Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle Payments online, but you will not be eligible for the discount.
You are reminded that it is your responsibility, not the Council’s, to renew your Licence and if you fail to do so before the expiry then the vehicle will be unlicensed and you will not be permitted to work with that vehicle until its licence has been renewed.
