To support residents during the current cost of living pressures, Wealden District Council has agreed to award a grant of £43,400 to Wealden Citizens Advice.

The grant will support the Wealden-based charity, which provides free, confidential, independent, and impartial advice and campaign on issues affecting people’s lives – money, housing or employment problems.

There has been an increase in demand to its services during the economic downturn and the grant will help to give more support where needed.

In the past year, Wealden Citizens Advice has supported more than 4,000 people.

Councillor Richard Hallett, Wealden’s portfolio holder for Governance, Customer Services and HR, said, “I am pleased Wealden Citizens Advice has been given extra funding to help continue the valuable services it provides especially during these difficult times.

“The support the charity is providing to residents, both individuals and families, minimises the impact of the cost of living and helps to keep people mentally and physically well; which is great.

“The charity has three sites across Wealden and if anyone is struggling with debt, money worries, housing or employment issues I would encourage them to speak to Wealden Citizens Advice.”
