Helping you to vote safely on polling day

Publish Date: 27 April 2021

We're doing everything we can to ensure you can vote safely in the local elections on 6 May.

Your polling station may look different to how you are used to. Here’s what you can expect when voting in person at a polling station:

  • You may have to queue as there will be limits to the number of people allowed in the polling station at any one time – please bear with us during peak times
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided for use when entering and leaving the polling station
  • Face masks must be worn at all times unless you are exempt
  • Markings on the floor will show you where to go and will help you to keep a safe distance from other voters and staff
  • We recommend bringing your own pen or pencil to mark the ballot paper, but clean pencils will be available
  • Staff will regularly clean the polling station for your safety

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us to ensure the safety of the democratic process.
