Volume of planning applications
Wealden is a very busy planning authority. Over 2017 it received 2,263 planning applications – the fifth largest volume of all English shire district planning authorities (Source: DCLG Table P134).
Speed of processing
Nationally formulated indicators for the speed with which planning applications are decided are divided between major applications determined within 13 weeks, minor applications determined within eight weeks and other applications determined within eight weeks.
Major planning applications are housing applications for 10 or more dwellings or applications for a site area of 0.5 hectares or more or applications for developments with a floor space of 1,000 sq. metres or more or with a site area of 1 hectare or more.

Minor Applications are those are those for developments smaller than major applications but which are not changes of use or householder development covered by the definition for other applications.
