The Wealden Dementia Action Alliance help make our towns and villages Dementia Friendly by showing and providing our support for the residents and their carers who have to cope with Dementia every day.
Just over 685,000 people are living with Dementia in the UK, with 122,000 of those people are in the South East and just under 3,000 of those are living in Wealden (Stats from the Alzheimer’s Society). With it expecting to rise between now and 2051, experts say the burden will fall on rural areas where they are significantly higher proportions of elderly people (Rural Services Network).
Working together with partners who already have an interest in working with us to set up the forum, the launch of the alliance took place on Thursday 19 May 2016 at Hailsham Civic Community Hall. It was a great success with over 100 people attending, many offering their support.
Please see the contact details below if you would like to informed of our future meetings.
