Rates Changes: Transitional Arrangements

Definition

Transitional relief limits how much a business rates bill can change each year as a result of the business rates revaluation. The new revaluation will take effect from the 1st of April 2023.

This means that the increase to your bill are phased in gradually, if you are eligible.

From the 2023/2024 year you’ll get transitional relief if your business rates if your bill has increased by a certain amount. You stop getting transitional relief when your bill reaches the full amount set by the revaluation.
