Employing an apprentice

Give your business a boost. There are some real business benefits to employing an apprentice. Offering an apprenticeship can:

  1. Fill your resource gap
  2. Develop skilled staff
  3. Motivate your workforce
  4. Make your organisation more productive and competitive

Almost 3 million apprenticeships have been created since May 2010 as part of the Government’s drive to create opportunities for all (November 2016).

More people than ever before are taking advantage of high-quality apprenticeships and traineeships that give them the skills and experience they need for a successful career according to Government.

High quality skills and apprenticeships lie at the heart of the Government’s drive to create the skilled workforce British industry needs to thrive, to boost productivity and build an economy that works for all.

Wealden District Council is involved with the Apprenticeships in East Sussex Strategy Group helping to deliver the East Sussex Employability and Skills Strategy.  Find out more about Apprenticeships in Sussex (external link).

Apprenticeship Reforms

The Government is carrying out a series of reforms to the Apprenticeship system with the intention of making sure that apprenticeships deliver the skills that employers want and the work opportunities that people need.  View further details about the Apprenticeship Reforms (external link).

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW)

Each year National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is held in March to celebrate the success of apprenticeships and encourage more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast track to a great career. The Week brings together employers and apprentices from across England and is designed to celebrate the positive impact apprenticeships and traineeships have on individuals, businesses and the economy.
