Solar Together group-buying scheme

Solar Together is a group-buying scheme, which brings residents and businesses together to buy solar panels and battery storage at reduced prices by buying in bulk.

Wealden District Council is working with partner authorities across Sussex to bring large volumes of potential buyers together. The more that register, the better the deal.

We want to help residents save money on their electricity bills by installing solar panels and battery storage at competitive prices.

Installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and generating clean electricity could also reduce the average household’s carbon footprint by up to one tonne each year, helping to make Wealden a carbon neutral district by 2050.

If you already have solar panels, you can also register to have battery storage added to your existing solar panels to maximise the benefits of your system.

Any homeowner, landlord or business can register at

How does it work?

  1. Registration: you can register before 6 October for free and without obligation at To register you will need to provide some details about your roof, like its size and orientation.
  2. Auction: an ‘auction’ will be held on 6 October, when pre-vetted solar installers will bid for the work. The more people that register, the better the deal should be for each household.
  3. Personal recommendation (offer): from 26 October, you will be contacted with a personal offer, based on the specifications of your roof. This will include the cost and likely return on investment from the solar panel installation.
  4. You decide: the decision is then yours as to whether you want to accept or reject the offer. There is no obligation to continue. You will have until 11 December to decide and, if you want to go ahead, you will be invited to visit a local information session (subject to Coronavirus restrictions).
  5. Installation: if you accept the offer, the winning supplier will contact you to schedule a survey of your roof and set an installation date.
