Street Sweeping

Our responsibilities

We are responsible for the removal of grit, mud, litter, grease,  debris and leaf fall from highways, lay-byes, bus shelters, subways, council car & coach parks and recycling bring sites.

Areas we don’t cover

We are not responsible for street sweeping on unadopted roads, private footpaths and private land (this is the land owner’s responsibility).

Reporting a problem

If you feel that there is an area that that requires sweeping or would like to discuss a street sweeping issue, please contact us via recycling@wealden.gov.uk or call us on 01323 443322.

What happens next?

Once an issue is reported, we will carry out an inspection and arrange for the area to be cleaned if necessary.

What can you do to help?

You can help keep Wealden clean by:

  • Always using litter bins when you’re out and about and encourage children to use them.
  • If you cannot find a litter bin, please take your rubbish home with you.
  • Cleaning up your dog’s poo.
  • Having waste collection contracts for your business
