Following the council’s recent email about our new housing register system, the Housing Allocations team would like to provide clearer information for you.
What Is Happening
From Monday 2 February 2026, the council is replacing the Sussex Homemove system with a new system called Housing Portal.
Housing Portal provides the same functions for customers as the current system, including applying for housing, uploading documents, reporting changes, and bidding for properties. However, the layout and design will look different.
This change is being introduced so that all of our Housing services operate on the same technology.
What This Means for You
If you have started but not submitted an application in Sussex Homemove
- You must complete and submit your application by Tuesday 27 January 2026.
- After this date, you will no longer be able to access any application that is still in progress.
- Any unsubmitted applications will not transfer to the new system.
If you have submitted an application but not uploaded all required documents
- Only documents uploaded on or before 27 January 2026 will transfer to the new system.
- Any remaining documents will need to be uploaded in the new Housing One system from 2 February 2026 onwards.
You will be able to access Housing Portal from 2 February.
If You Are Not Yet on the Housing Register
- Submit any incomplete applications by 27 January 2026.
- Upload any outstanding documents for any submitted application by 27 January 2026.
- If you are considering applying for the first time, you may prefer to wait until 2 February and apply directly through Housing Portal.
If You Have Submitted a Sussex Homemove Application and Have a Reference Number, but Have Not Yet Had a Decision
- Your application, information and uploaded evidence will be transferred to Housing Portal.
- Your application will continue to be processed.
- You will need to log in and set up your Housing Portal account from 2 February 2026 onwards. The system will not be available before this date.
Access the system from 2 February at Housing Portal
Important Login Information
When logging in for the first time:
- Use only the digits from your current reference number (remove the “WDC/” prefix).
- Add a 0 at the end.
Example:
WDC/123456 → enter 1234560
If You Are Already on the Housing Register
- Your information will automatically transferred.
- You will need to create your new login on or after 2 February 2026. Do not attempt this before 2 February as the system will not be live.
