Vineyards in Wealden

Wealden District is situated in the south east corner of England, one of the sunniest regions of the British Isles. It has seen a boom in wine growing over the past five years. Wealden now boasts over 20 vineyards making the most of the beautiful rolling Sussex countryside. The lime chalk soil, prevalent throughout Sussex, is the same soil type found in the Champagne region of France. It contributes to Wealden’s ability to produce quality grapes for sparkling wines. A cooler climate than France helps preserve the acidity in the grapes that is needed to make the top tier of sparkling wines.
