Wealden is a great place to go walking or cycling. Whether it’s for a short journey or more challenging adventure, the district has many beautiful areas to visit including picturesque villages and market towns, parks and gardens, Ashdown Forest, High Weald (Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty), South Downs National Park, Cuckoo Trail, Forest Way Country Park, Seven Sisters and so much more.
Walking and cycling is great exercise and can make you feel fitter, stronger and more energised. It’s also great for your mental wellbeing.
You don’t need any special equipment, it’s free to do (if you have a bike) and suitable for all ages and abilities.

Guided Walks
Wealden District Council offer such walks on a monthly basis, led by Graham Kean. Our guided walks are free of charge and open to all, simply turn up and meet Graham at the start time to join the walk. No dogs please.
Wealden Walks
Wealden Walks are a collection of self-guided walks available throughout the district. They have recently been tried, tested and improved to help explorers of every age discover Wealden’s hidden gems.
The new set of walks have launched. A description and historical significance of the walk, along with the route details and a map of the walk can be viewed and downloaded from the Healthy Wealden website.
Originally developed as Wealden District Council’s millennium commemoration, the initial Wealden Walk started as a 100-mile walk around the district. In future years, this turned into a series of individual walks that covers every parish area within Wealden at least once. Each walk is designed to look back at the history of the area over the preceding 1000 years.
