Validation Local List Consultation

Update – Amendments have now been formally approved and will apply to all Planning Applications submitted on or after 1 October 2025. Visit our Application Forms page to view the full details and the updated requirements to validation.

We are asking for your views on the Council’s Draft local list.

Since 2008 local planning authorities have been required to publish a list of information they require to “validate” the planning applications they receive. This is known as the local list which has 2 components:

  1. The national requirements, such as the application form, fee and certificates
  2. Specific local validation requirements – the “local list”

The Government requires local planning authorities to review the “local list” every 2 years.

The proposed Local List is open to public consultation for a six week period from 24 February 2025 until 5pm on 8 April 2025.

After the consultation period, Wealden District Council as the Local Planning Authority will consider all the comments received and amend the local list as appropriate. Once approved this will form the basis on which planning applications are deemed valid by Wealden District Council.

The consultation period ran from 24th February 2025 until 5pm on 8th April 2025.

No comments were received during the consultation period. As a result, the amendments have now been formally approved.

The updated requirements will apply to all planning applications submitted on or after 1 October 2025.

Visit our Application Forms page for more information on the updated requirements.

The following changes have been implemented:

  • Biodiversity Net Gain – National and Local Validation Requirements have been added to reflect the latest legislative and policy updates.
  • Fire Statement Form – Now included as a National Validation Requirement to support fire safety considerations in relevant applications.
  • Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) – Updated to incorporate the SuDS Decision Support Tool, which provides guidance for small-scale developments.
  • Application Type Checklists – Previously listed validation checklists by application type have been removed to streamline the process.

These updates aim to improve clarity and efficiency in the application process.

Note: The format of the local list when adopted is subject to change. This relates primarily to the format of the appendices which will be published separately. No other additions to the existing content will be made.
