The Benefits Service has policies that set out how we run our service and will tell you which regulations we have to adhere to.

Benefits Service Policy and Strategy – paying benefit promptly and correctly, choices, consultation, accessibility of service, benefit take-up, recovery of overpaid benefit, performance targets, support for the Council’s corporate objectives

Claim Maintenance Policy and Strategy – compliance with regulations, the verification or documentation, IT systems, subsidy, notifications, rights of appeal, internal and external audit inspections.

Overpayments Policy and Strategy  – compliance with regulations, ways of recovering overpaid benefit, discretionary decisions

Counter-Fraud Policy and Strategy  – compliance with regulations, sanctions and prosecutions, professional qualifications, joint working
