Charity Collections

If you would like to organise a Charity Collection in the Wealden area, either on the street or by going from house to house, you must apply to us for a Licence.
You will find information on the two different types of Licence we issue and the relevant application forms on the pages below.

House to House Collections

A House to House Collection Licence allows you to go collecting money door to door. These Licences are valid for one year but you must let us know when you are planning to collect money when you apply.
Please note that conditions have been changed so that licences will only be approved for charities registered with the Charity Commission or known locally. Only one collection will be allowed in any one area per day and that profits go to the charity with only reasonable expenses being deducted.

Street Collections

Street Collection Licence allows you to collect money on the street. These Licences are valid for one day only and when you apply we will check that no other collections are taking place in the same area on the same day.
Please note that conditions have been changed so that licences will only be approved for charities registered with the Charity Commission or known locally. Only one collection will be allowed in any one area per day and that 50% of the whole profits go to the charity
Please also note that people working for charities who try to get the public to sign up to direct debits in the street to support a charity, do not need a street collection permit but their actions are regulated by the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association.
